HeidelbergCement opened New Limestone Quarry in Saskhori, Georgia
On October 21, 2014, HeidelbergCement began a trial excavation in the licensed limestone quarry in Saskhori, near Kaspi.
“We are really happy that with the opening of Saskhori Quarry we can safeguard the survival of our Kaspi cement plant for the next 50 years” Michael Hampel, General Director of HeidelbergCement in the Caucasus region stated.
“The limestone reserve near a plant is the main factor for a profitable running of each cement plant. We obtained the license in the beginning of 2007 and we are happy to use it now for the sake of our company and for the competitiveness of a Georgian key industry. Together with the already started project of erecting a new hyper modern kiln line in Kaspi the opening of the Saskhori quarry is another milestone in HeidelbergCement’s success story in Georgia”.
Michael Hampel expresses again his gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources Protection for the fast and straightforward help.
